44-year-old children’s entertainer Stuart finds himself matched with a Reiki healer and animal communicator called Jayne. Across the restaurant, 23-year-old Cecilia is a parliamentary researcher who is hoping to meet a man who is as driven and determined as she is. She’s matched with a business development manager named Viv.
Last but not least, a student named James with a prosthetic leg has had his confidence knocked by some of his previous dates. He’ll be sitting down for dinner with another student named Emilie who’s new to the whole dating thing.
Vótaí do Mhná (TG4, 9.30pm)
The story of how Irish women obtained the right to vote in the face of ignorance, indifference and hostility. Every main political party in Ireland and Britain opposed votes for women in the lead up to WWI, so women (with the help of a minority of socialist and republican men) took action to secure the vote for themselves.
This documentary tells the story of how they managed to do so, earning the right for women over the age of 30 to vote from 1918 onward.
Love in the Countryside (BBC 2, 9pm)
Sara Cox heads to the countryside to meet eight rural singletons who are looking for love. All eight participants have created detailed online dating profiles, and are hoping to meet people who are looking for a slow-paced rural life. Tonight, the first episode kicks off with 32-year-old farmer Christine and Yorkshireman Pete beginning their search for the perfect partner.
Shayne Ward’s role as Aiden Connor in Coronation Street is coming to an end and he says that his exit is one of the show’s most shocking to date. In an episode that airs next week, Aiden Connor will take his own life.
Shayne said “When I was approached by the writers and producer with this storyline, I knew straightaway just [how much it would impact] the public. This is bigger than anything that I will ever do in my career. I think it will be one of the things that I will be most proud of doing, because the message it sends out.”
The hour-long special will air next Wednesday.
